Cases where the PIN is stolen by peeping from behind the ATM user are on the rise. There are even cases where a camera is secretly placed on the ATM. Please be on the alert when you use an ATM.
Be aware of your surroundings when you use an ATM
When you use an ATM, please check to see if there is any suspicious persons nearby. There were also cases where a small camera was placed by the ATM. In case you find one, please let the person in charge know.
There is a mirror on an ATM to give you a rear view. When you enter your PIN, please use the mirror to see if there is any suspicious person behind you. (If there is no mirror, please pay very close attention to your immediate surrounding area.)
Do not hand your cash card to a third party, and always carry the card on your person. There are cases where the user has left a bag containing the cash card in a car, and the car was broken into while the user was away.
Do not give your PIN to a third party. Do not write your PIN on the cash card. Do not write the PIN down on paper and carry it with the card. Do not use numbers easily associated with your birthday, address or telephone number, for they can be guessed by third parties.
"Paid no attention to the person behind me."
Ms. A used an ATM to make a withdrawal. When she was operating the ATM, she noticed a man behind her, but paid no attention and completed the transaction. As she tried to leave the spot, another man who had dropped some coins asked her if she had seen any coins roll toward her. But this man had a hand in the crime. While Ms. A was helping the man look for the coins, her cash card was stolen. A few days later, she looked at her passbook and found that a large sum of money had been withdrawn without her knowledge.
