What kind of services are there for Domestic Investment Trusts ?

You can open Investment Trusts account, update your information and make orders to Buy/Sell the investment funds available through Online Banking (Shinsei PowerDirect).
You can also view the transactions you made at Shinsei Bank Financial Center, Shinsei PowerCall and Online Banking (Shinsei PowerDirect), and inquire Yen equivalent amount by the latest NAV of your fund. Also, electronic delivery of prospectus, latest NAV and fund summary are available through online.

Please note that investment trusts consulting service, prospectuses, and other relevant materials are only available in Japanese. This service is being made available to self-directed investors and it is your responsibility to understand the contents before purchase.

Where can I get a fund prospectus ?

- You can view the fund prospectus in a PDF format through Shinsei PowerDirect on the fund order screen. It will be displayed on the screen when you click on the "Prospectus" button. You will need Acrobat Reader 4.0 to view the PDF format.

During which hours can I place an order ?

You can place orders for funds 24 hours. However, please note that it may not be available during maintenance hours and fund holidays.

By what time of the day do I need to make transactions so that the order is processed by that day ?
A
Orders received by closing time of bank business days are processed on that day, whereas orders received after closing time is processed on the next business day.
Closing time of orders through Online Banking (Shinsei PowerDirect):
MMF - Buy 12 p.m., Sell 3 p.m.
Bull Bear Type funds - 2 p.m. (10 a.m. at the year-end and new year)
Others - 3 p.m. (11 a.m. at the year-end and New Years)
However, closing time may differ according to funds. Please reconfirm the prospectus before you apply. Please confirm the Transaction Date in the order confirmation screen which is displayed after the order is submitted. You can also confirm the Transaction Date on the "Order Inquiry" screen.

On which screen can I check the sales fee for purchasing or selling investment trusts ?

You can confirm the sales fee for each fund on the "Sales Fee Rate" list screen through Online Banking (Shinsei PowerDirect) or "Sales fee" list screen in Shinsei Bank's homepage.

What is "Important Information on Investment Trusts" ?
A
Customers who wish to purchase investment trusts are requested to confirm the Important Information on Investment Trusts. We are unable to sell investment trusts to customers who do not agree or understand the Important Information on Investment Trusts. The Important Information on Investment Trusts includes, that investment trusts are not deposits, that customers are required to read the latest prospectus before purchasing any fund, and a U.S. national or green card holder are not entitled to purchase some of the funds.

Are fund prospectuses available in English ?

No, they are not. Fund prospectuses are available only in Japanese.

When I try to purchase a fund, a message reading, "The risk level of the fund you have selected is higher than your stated risk tolerance level." is displayed. What does it mean ?
A
This message is displayed when the risk level of the fund you are buying is high in light of the information you have provided us when you completed procedure to start investment trust transactions, such as your investment experiences and investment objectives. Please confirm the risks involved in the fund prospectus again.

From which account will the fund be debited ?
A
Fund will be debited from your PowerFlex Yen Savings account.

When is the purchase proceeds debited from my account ?
A
The purchase proceeds are debited from your savings account at the time of placing a purchase order. You cannot purchase investment trusts by use of the automatic overdraft service.

How many times in a day can I place an order ?
A
You can purchase or sell up to three times a day for each fund. However, a sell order for MMF or Mid-term JGB Fund is accepted only once a day. Specifying less than 20 units for sell orders is not available. If your "Units Available for Sell Orders" is less than 20, select "ALL(%)" for "Sale Type".

Can I use "Maruyu" (tax-exempt savings) ?

Usage of "Maruyu" for Time Deposit transactions is not available through Online Banking (Shinsei PowerDirect). Also, setting the "Maruyu" limits is not accepted.

Can I use the Preferential Treatment for Switching at Redemption (Shokan Norikae Yugu Seido) ?

No, the Preferential Treatment for Switching at Redemption is not available through Online Banking (Shinsei PowerDirect). If you wish to use it, please visit Shinsei Financial Centers or contact us at Shinsei PowerCall.

When is the number of units (balance) updated ?

It is updated during the night of the trade date. For MMF, the number of units is updated at noon on the trade date. Please note that the balance is NOT updated on settlement date basis.

I want to switch from the Dividend-Reinvestment Course to the Dividend-Receiving Course.

Shinsei Bank handles Dividend-Reinvestment Course for all open-end funds if you do not make any requests. If you wish to receive dividends, please request at reinvestment option menu for dividends.

I have chosen the Dividend-Reinvestment Course. In what manner are the dividends shown on the Activity screen for investment trusts under the Account Information menu ?

For the Dividend-Reinvestment Course: "Re-investment" is displayed in the Transaction column on the Activity screen under Account Information menu.
For the Dividend-Receiving Course: "Investment Trust Dividend" is displayed in the Description column on the Activity screen for Yen savings account under the Account Information menu.

I purchased a fund, but my account balance did not change.
A
The balance of the fund you have purchased will be displayed at night time of the trade date. By then, please go to "Investment Trusts"/ "Inquiry" screen to reconfirm fund purchase.

When you sell a fund, the balance will be changed at nighttime of trade date.
Until then, please refer "Investment Trusts"/ "Order Inquiry" screen to view your transaction status.

My fund cancellation amount did not credit to my account.
A
Your fund cancellation amount will be credited to your Yen Savings account on the settlement date.
Generally, settlement date will be few business days after the trade date of fund cancellation. Please reconfirm the delivery date on the fund prospectus. Fund prospectus is available through Shinsei PowerDirect or Shinsei Financial Center.

Why is there still a balance in my investment trusts account even after I made an 'All Units' sell order ?
A
When the sell order is made on a fund closing date and is on the same day of trade date, equivalent dividend will be automatically reinvested. Therefore, units for reinvesting will remain in your balance. If you wish to redeem the units for reinvestment, please follow the sell order procedure once again.

I sold an investment trust, but the number of "Units Available for Sale" on the sale screen remains unchanged.

The number of "Units Available for Sale" is updated after completion of trade processing during the night of the trade date.

Is there any restriction on transaction for U.S. citizens or Green Card Holder?

U.S. citizens (as defined by U.S. federal tax laws). and Green Card Holders are not entitled to purchasethe following funds.

The number of units I input for a sell order was less than the number of "Units Available for Sale". But I see a message, reading, "The accumulated number of today's sell orders has exceeded the Units available for Sale."

The number of "Units Available for Sale" is updated after completion of trade processing during the night of the trade date. You see the message when the sum of the number of units of a sell order(s) which has not been processed and the number of units of a sell order you are placing this time is greater than the number of "Units Available for Sale".
