Three stages will be offered depending on transaction levels, with increasing benefits in transaction discounts, deposit rates, and asset management discounts being provided for Gold and Platinum customers.

Eligibility Requirements for 3 stages

You can check your "Average monthly balance in this month" and required average balance to step up to the next stage via internet banking.

Platinum

One of the following conditions must be satisfied to be eligible for Platinum services.

  1. Average monthly balance of total assets with Shinsei of 20 million yen or more
  2. Average monthly balance of Bank-designated investment products such as Foreign Currency Saving Deposit with Shinsei of 3 million yen or more
  3. Outstanding PowerSmart housing loan
  4. An account from which the payments of Luxury Card issued by APLUS are to be debited is Shinsei PowerFlex account, and amount debited on 27th of the month (or the following business day if 27th falls on a non-business day) is 1 yen or more.

Gold

One of the following conditions must be satisfied to be eligible for Gold services.

  1. Average monthly balance of total assets with Shinsei of 2 million yen or more
  2. Average monthly balance of the Bank-designated investment products such as Foreign Currency Saving Deposit with Shinsei of 300,000 yen or more
  3. Average monthly balance in Yen Savings Deposit, PowerYokin, and 2 Weeks Maturity Deposit totals 1 million yen or more
  4. Average monthly outstanding balance of SmartCard Loan of 1 million yen or more
  5. Outstanding loan balance of Smart Card Loan Plus is 1 yen or more as of the 20th of the month, and the account from which the repayments are to be debited is Shinsei PowerFlex account.*1
  6. Outstanding loan balance of Shinsei Bank Card Loan Lake is 1 yen or more as of the 20th of the month, and the account from which the repayments are to be debited is Shinsei PowerFlex account.*1
  7. An account from which the payments of Shinsei APLUS Gold card are to be debited is Shinsei PowerFlex account, and amount debited on 27th of the month (or the following business day if 27th falls on a non-business day) is 1 yen or more.
  8. Direct debits are made from the customer’s Shinsei PowerFlex account to a PowerBuilder Account (automatically funded Foreign Currency Saving Deposit) between the 21st of the previous month and the 20th of the current month.*2
  9. Investment trusts are purchased through periodic investment services which are executed between the 21st of the previous month and 20th of the current month.*2
  • *1Shinsei Gold services may not be available depending on the transactions the customer makes.
  • *2For example, when requirements for a higher account stage are satisfied between April 21st to May 20th, The higher stage will be applied to the account from July.

Regardless of eligibility requirements, Shinsei Gold services are available for up to 3 months to those who open a new account. Discount commission fees for housing loans do not, as a rule, apply. For details, please click herehere.

Standard

Those who do not satisfy any of the conditions of Platinum or Gold receive Standard services.

  • Asset balances at the end of month for insurance products and financial products purchased at Rakuten Securities through Shinsei Bank shall apply. That is, a total premium amount paid until the end of the month and the market value of shares at the end of the month are included.

How to evaluate your average monthly balance

Eligibility reviews will be based on the average monthly balance.

Customers do not need to worry about making end of month withdrawals or payments.

How to evaluate your average monthly balance
  • How to calculate average monthly balance:
    The total daily balances of eligible products (eligible product balances on the first day of the month + eligible product balances on the second day of the month + … + eligible product balances on the last day of the month) ÷ the number of days in the month
  • Investment trusts and foreign currency deposits are not calculated at the price or forex rate at the time of purchase or deposit. Daily NAV and forex rates shall apply in calculating asset balances (yen-equivalent asset balance for foreign currency products) of each day.
  • Asset balances at the end of each month for insurance products and financial products purchased at Rakuten Securities through Shinsei Bank shall apply. (e.g. Total premiums paid until the end of the month and the market value of shares at the end of the month are included).
  • The timing of the evaluation of the Eligible product balances on the day or the average monthly balance are different depending on the products.

Stage Review

Account stages will be reviewed every month according to the "Eligibility Requirements". Transactions between the Bank and each customer will be evaluated at the end of each month, and each customer will be assigned the applicable stage for the month after the following month.

In the event of a late payment on a PowerSmart housing loan or SmartCard loan, or an overdraft beyond a limit for 2 consecutive months, the account stage will be downgraded to Shinsei Standard.

Allow us to introduce how to calculate the monthly average of "Total Assets" and "Bank-designated investment products". Please be aware "Bank-designated investment products" deposits are calculated by the daily price changes based on market rates and foreign currency exchange rates, not with the original invested amount.

Monthly average balance

The monthly average balance is calculated by adding the total daily balance in one month and dividing it by the days of the month. For example, if you change your balance once during the month (please look at graph below) this will be how it is calculated. At the start of the month, you have 5 million yen and at the end of the month you have 3 million yen, your monthly average is 3.96 million yen.

In actuality, due to fluctuations on your balance by deposits, withdrawals, price changes to your assets, the daily balance is added up in total by the month and divided by the number of days in the month.

Please be aware "Bank-designated investment products" deposits are calculated by the daily price changes based on market rates and foreign currency exchange rates, not with the original invested amount.

In case of Foreign Currency Deposits, The Shinsei Bank TTM (middle rate) will be applied when calculating the final balance.
For that reason, even if there is no change to the balance of the foreign currency amount, the daily yen equivalent will vary according to the daily foreign exchange rage. In addition, interest will be added to the Foreign Currency Savings account the following day of the interest payout and the interest will be added to the original amount of the Foreign Currency Time Deposit account after the interest payout.

Stage Requirements (Monthly average balance)

  1. Total assets of 2 million yen or more
  2. Total balance of 300,000 yen or more in "Bank-designated investment products"
  3. Total balance of 1 million or more in Yen Savings account and or Power Yokin account.

Upgrading from Shinsei Standard to Shinsei Gold!

Example balance from the 1st to the 5th

Calculation results: The following 3 options can be used to upgrade your account if you deposit on 6th and stay till 31st.

  • 1) Total assets Add 600,000 yen
  • 2) Bank designated investment products Add 120,000 yen
  • 3) Yen Savings account and or Power Yokin account Add 600,000 yen

1) How to calculate the average monthly balance for Total Assets to 2 million yen

The total average balance of the last 5 days and the remaining 26 days will be divided by 31 days to average 2 million yen.

If you add 600,000 yen to the existing balance of 1.5 million yen and if the balance does not change till the end of the month, your stage will be upgraded to Shinsei Gold the month after next.
However, please bear in mind some product balances will not be reflected right away and the daily final balance may fluctuate due to price changes and may fall below the balance when initially deposited.

2) How to average your balance to 300,000 yen in bank designated investment products

Equally, if the bank designated investment products deposited in the remaining period averages 120,000 yen, this would also allow you to be upgraded to the Gold stage. However, please bear in mind some product balances will not be reflected right away and the daily final balance may fluctuate due to price changes and may fall below the balance when initially deposited.

3) How to average your balance to 1 million yen with Yen Savings account and Power Yokin Account

The following calculation shows the needed balance within the time-period.

If you add 600,000 yen to the existing balance of your Yen Savings account or Power Yokin account and if the balance does not change till the end of the month, your stage will be upgraded to Shinsei Gold the month after next. In this case, any deposits from your Yen Savings account to Power Yokin account will be calculated together and there will be no fluctuations in the average balance.
