Overseas Remittance Services

With the implementation of Individual Number system (nicknamed "My Number") effective Jan 2016, customers who make the following transactions are required to notify us of their Individual Number; Outward remittance, Outward remittance and registration of the beneficiary, or Inward remittance.

Shinsei Bank has two types of overseas remittance service: "GoRemit" and "PowerFlex overseas remittance."
You can use either service (or both) depending on your needs.

Registration of beneficiary One beneficiary can be registered at branch. Registration can be requested only when senders apply for the remittance at branch.

Individual Number is required to register beneficiary.

Important Notice: Regarding the implementation of the Individual Number system

Once the beneficiary is registered, senders do not have to hassle to fill in the remittance application form again to send funds to the registered beneficiary. Moreover, requests of remittance to the registered beneficiary can be accepted by phone.

Beneficiary must be pre-registered by post. There is no limit to the number of beneficiary you can register.
How to make a remittance - Fill in the remittance application form at branch.
Those who are going to repeatedly send funds to the same beneficiary are advised to register the beneficiary for their convenience.
- Once the beneficiary is registered, requests of remittance to the registered beneficiary are accepted by phone.
Individual Number is required to register beneficiary. Registration can be requested only when senders apply for the remittance at branch.

Important Notice: Regarding the implementation of the Individual Number system

Transfer the funds in Yen to our designated bank account.

Note: Corporate customers must send us remittance instructions by FAX or online.

Cut off time for Yen remittance The funds will be processed on the following business day after we have confirmed your funds in our account and received your remittance instructions. Funds received by 12 p.m. on business days will be processed on that day by us.
Funds received after 12 p.m. will be processed on the following business day.
Cut off time for Foreign currency remittance Funds received by 1 p.m. on business days will be processed on that day by us.
Funds received after 1 p.m. will be processed on the following business day.

Note: The cut off time for AUD, NZD, HKD and SGD is 11 a.m.

Funds received by 3 p.m. on business days will be processed on that day by us.
Funds received after 3 p.m. will be processed on the following business day.
Service charge JPY 4,000

Note: One time free per month for Shinsei Platinum customers. (It is, however, unable to remit funds in foreign currencies to banks within Japan)

Note: JPY-basis remittances are subject to an additional charge of 0.1% of the amount sent (minimum charge of JPY 1,500).

The PowerFlex exchange rate will be applied depending on the customer's stage. GoRemit exchange rate for that day.

Note: The GoRemit exchange rate is updated every business day around 10 a.m. and is valid until 3 p.m. that day. Rates can be viewed on the GoRemit website.(www.shinseibank.com/goremit/en/)

  • Note: For both services, as with any international remittance, intermediary banks will deduct a fee. In addition, beneficiary banks in some countries may also levy a charge.
  • Note: You may be asked for further details about the remittance before the remittance is processed in cases where the amount exceeds certain limits.

We mainly provide services in Japanese at the branches. There are some branches with English speaking staffs, but not always available. Please visit our branch with someone who can understand Japanese if you have concerns about communication. Thank you for your understanding.
