Information transmitted by customers is protected by encryption which is very difficult to decode.

Your information is transmitted by encryption for protection. In our Shinsei PowerDirect, we have employed 128-bit SSL encryption, which is said to be virtually impossible to be decrypted by an outsider.
*What is SSL?
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It is a protocol developed by Netscape for encrypting and verifying data to prevent theft or unauthorized modification of the data by a third party. SSL is supported by Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

We employ three different numbers to identify the user when logging in.

Shinsei PowerDirect conducts customer identification checks using three authentication codes: a 10-digit number which is a combination of a 3-digit branch number and a 7-digit account number, a 4-digit personal identification number, and a PowerDirect password for internet banking.
You may change your PowerDirect password at any time on the Shinsei PowerDirect banking site, by accessing the Customer Support link and then the Password Change link. You are encouraged to change your password periodically for additional security.

We do not accept PIN numbers which are easy to guess.

In our Shinsei PowerDirect, we require the submission of the four-digit PIN which is also used in ATM and telephone banking by the Call Center. In setting the PIN, we do not accept numbers which can easily be guessed, such as the following:

Our servers are equipped with a powerful prevention system (firewall) for effective surveillance and prevention of unauthorized access.

In our servers which store customer information, we have installed a powerful prevention system (firewall) constructed with leading-edge technology. A surveillance mechanism is also in place with a detection tool to guard against unauthorized access.
